Statement of Intent
The ASA enforces guidelines to prevent misleading or offensive advertising, and I will ensure that my posters do not contain anything that could be seen as inappropriate or misleading. Specifically, I will avoid graphic violence or offensive language in the images and text, as these would not be suitable for all audiences, especially given the family-friendly nature of bus stop advertising. I will also make sure that the posters do not mislead the audience about the content of the show, making sure the imagery and text link with the actual storyline and genre. My TV thriller will clearly take on to ASA guidelines to guarantee our adverts are suitable for all ages as people of all ages will be out waiting and going past bus stops. Here is how I will achieve this, Avoiding Harmful Content: I will avoid violence or disturbing imagery related to the murder. I will focus on building suspense through suggestive visuals and taglines, leaving the true story up to the viewers imagination before they watch it. I will also include truthful representation: The posters will accurately represent the program's genre without misleading viewers.
While my idea for my TV thriller is mainly focused on a murder, the overall representation of both the programme and its audience will be positive and dynamic. We can achieve this by portraying the characters in the following ways: The visuals and tagline can create a sense of intrigue and anticipation, appealing to the target audience's desire for thrilling experiences. The murder mystery genre lends itself to themes of intelligence, curiosity, and suspense, so I will portray the protagonists in an engaging light—active, sharp, and capable. The characters will reflect diverse social backgrounds, offering representation for different groups within the target demographic, with using male and female and different social groups. The adverts will suggest a sense of adventure, excitement, and mental stimulation, which is key to appealing to a young, thrill-seeking audience.
The thriller will be carefully looked at so it will appeal to 16-25-year-old audience and thriller fans. I will consider all aspects of the design, including layout, images, colour scheme, fonts, and taglines, to ensure the posters link with this demographic and do not disapprove of any of the ASA rules and guidelines. The colours will be bold and visible, showing the intensity of the murder mystery genre, while the fonts will be relating to the murder and the horror side of the thriller genre. The images will include clues to who the murderer is to help along the series, it will also draw people in creating suspense just through a few images making them want to watch, along with characters that reflect the intrigue and drama of the show. Taglines will be captivating, hinting at the mystery and the series without giving away too much of the plot to make people want to watch.
